How to write a good Personal Statement?

The Personal Statement is a chance to demonstrate the passion and what drives the applicants to study a particular subject. At least 75% of the Personal Statement of the applicants should focus on the subject the applicants are applying for.

Following areas are evaluated:

• Grades and qualifications
• Context of which the grades have been achieved
• Personal Statement
• Academic References
• Interview performance (Wherever required)
• Relevant work experience (Wherever required)
• English language ability, where appropriate

The University of St. Andrews admission requirements for Indian students are given below:

• Indian School Certificate, Higher School Certificate, Intermediate Certificate, Higher Secondary Certificate, All India Senior School Certificate and Pre-University Course (Attained on completion of Class 12): The applicants are required to obtain at least an average of 90% (with 90% or higher in any pre-requisite subjects) in Class 12 examinations, or A1-A2, if taking examinations used by Central Boards
• International Baccalaureate (IB): 36 (HL 6,6,5) to 38 (HL 6,6,6 plus SL 6,6,6). From 2021, programs needing A-levels Mathematics shall accept either Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches or Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation at higher level
• A-levels: AAB to A*A*A
• SQA Highers: AAAB to AAAAB 

Postgraduate Course Requirements

• The applicants willing to pursue a postgraduate degree are expected to have a good second division (2.1) or first division UK bachelor’s degree with Honors, or the overseas equivalent, in a relevant subject, or a relevant postgraduate qualification
• Generally, Indian degree equivalents with first-class grades of 60% to 80% (minimum) or 7.0 – 9.0 CGPA is required, depending on the institution

International students who apply for Lethbridge undergraduate programme are eligible for the University of Lethbridge scholarships. To be eligible for the scholarships, students must demonstrate academic achievement (minimum 80% admission average if entering High School minimum 3.50 admission GPA if transferring from another post-secondary institution). The university offer the below scholarship to undergraduate students:

·      International Students Entrance Scholarship – Award USD 1,000 (minimum)

·      Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship (Doctoral) – Award USD 15,000

·      Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship (Masters) – Award USD 11,000

·      Dhillon Award for International Students – Award USD 2,500.00 for first year, renewable at USD1,000.00 for second year
