The basic eligibility criteria for each course require the student to have a minimum of 45% in the previous qualification. Along with this, the student needs to have a minimum valid score in GATE, JEE Main/ MP BE, CMAT, or MPPET for admission to MTech, BTech, MBA, and Diploma courses, respectively. Candidates meeting all the admission requirements can apply by appearing for the respective counseling or directly filling out the admission form on the official website for admission under the management quota.

The placement opportunities at Malwa Institute of Technology are moderate with an average salary package ranging from INR 4-4.3 LPA & the highest package claimed to be INR 8-11 LPA. The top recruiters at the Malwa Institute of Technology are Infosys, Wipro, TCS, Capgemini, HCL, Hyperbean, Maruti Suzuki, and Tech Mahindra. About 40-45% of students get placed, particularly final year students in core branches of engineering. While 60% of students got internships through college. The placement cell organises training, workshops, and recruiting drives, but students can also volunteer and reach out to companies for interviews. Overall, the placement support is decent, and there is a fair amount of placements in core applications as well as IT.

Student can choose between technical clubs and student start-up and entrepreneurship initiatives, cultural and literary societies, and other varieties of student organizations. The institute participates in competitive sports - it hosts state-level and nodal tournaments in games like cricket, football, and boxing - and has the facilities to accommodate all indoor and outdoor sports. Students are even able to join the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS) for community service and leadership development. In addition to opening its doors to join sporting affiliations, the campuses also has its share of national and international annual tech fests, cultural events, and workshops and seminars that give students more ways to explore their interests beyond their studies.
