Founded in 1983 in Amravati, Sant Gadge Baba Amravati institution (SGBAU), formerly known as Amravati University, is a state-level institution. It is an Association of Indian Universities member and has been recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) (AIU). The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has granted it re-accreditation with a "A" grade. Both the colleges are public institution and fall in Maharashtra state with PDKV offering more than 70 courses including the traditional courses plus certificate courses and SGBAU offering 50 plus courses.
