GIBS keeps a good balance between academics and extracurricular by implementing a well-thought-out daily schedule that keeps both learning and student life active. Classes are regularly scheduled with established timelines, taught in a practical way, so students are able to concentrate on their studies without feeling overwhelmed. Also, GIBS uses events such as clubs, sports, cultural events, guest speakers and leadership sessions as a part of their overall development in addition to the typical academic calendar and not merely as distractions. Faculty members support students in managing their time to allow them to excel in their studies in addition to activities. A balance between academics and activities provides students with the ability to maintain academic success while building their confidence, teamwork, communication skills and ability to manage stress during their time in college.

In fact, in my batch quite a few students came in through MAT and got some level of scholarship depending on their percentile and overall profile. It's not like only CAT matters — MAT is also considered seriously along with academics, personal interview, and sometimes extracurricular stuff. What I liked is GIBS doesn't make it feel out of reach. If your MAT score is decent and you perform well during the admission process, there's a genuine chance. So yeah, as a student I'd say it's totally possible and worth trying instead of assuming it's only for top rankers.

GIBS supports students in becoming job-ready professionals through industry exposure and significantly enhances their chance of receiving good placement offers. To achieve this, GIBS will provide students with off-campus activities including industry visits, guest lectures, live projects, internships, and interactions with corporate professionals to enhance the understanding of real-world challenges rather than just learning concepts at school. These activities also help develop practical skills in communication, problem-solving, working with others and making decisions, all of which are highly sought after by employers. Employers often evaluate candidates during internships and based on performance in live projects; many of these candidates receive pre-placement offers (PPO). Regular exposure to experts helps current students to be familiar with what is happening in the marketplace, including what are the expectations for candidates during interviews and provides increased confidence during recruitment drives. In addition, meeting business leaders during corporate events and alumni events opens up possibilities for a job opportunity or a referral. Overall, by graduating with real-world experience, a network of contacts and job-readiness, graduates have greatly increased their ability to be successfully placed in a job that is appropriate to their academic specialization.

If you've taken any recognised management entrance, it counts. After that, they focus more on your overall profile, interview, and how serious you are about management studies, which makes the process feel fair rather than purely score-driven.

When I applied, CAT was just one part of the whole selection and a lot also depended on the GD/PI, communication, clarity about why PGDM, and overall attitude.I've seen classmates with very different score ranges getting selected because GIBS looks more at potential and how you present yourself rather than just the number. So even if your CAT score isn't too high, it doesn't close the door — they genuinely focus on the student, not just the percentile.

Honestly ya, they do guide personally. Like in my case, during internships & projects I was literally asking doubts every 2 days and they didn't make it weird. They actually sit and help you figure stuff instead of just saying “manage yourself.”Even for future plans, some of us were talking about higher studies & switching domains, and faculty actually gave proper direction instead of those generic “all the best” types. Felt more like mentorship than just normal teaching. So ya in GIBS you're not just left to survive on your own. They make sure you know what you're doing and where you're going.

It's competitive for sure, but the good part is GIBS looks at the overall profile — not just one exam number. So if someone has decent CAT/MAT scores plus good academics, participation, or even strong interview performance, they still have a fair shot. In my batch I've seen people with mid-range MAT scores also getting some scholarship benefit, so it's not limited to the top 1%. I feel GIBS keeps it student-friendly that way. It's competitive but not impossible, and if you perform well in entrance + GDPI + academics, it honestly works in your favour.

Honestly, this was one of the biggest surprises for me at GIBS. Instead of just theory, they make you work on live projects and case studies literally from the first trimester, so you start thinking like you're already in the corporate world. Honestly, this was one of the biggest surprises for me at GIBS. Instead of just theory, they make you work on live projects and case studies literally from the first trimester, so you start thinking like you're already in the corporate world. Plus, the corporate talks are not just motivational sessions — they actually expose you to how companies work, how decisions are made, and what skills matter in placements. For me, this mix really helped during interviews because I wasn't just answering from textbooks, I could connect it to real examples. It kind of bridges that awkward gap between classroom learning and placements in a very natural way, and I personally felt more confident showing up in placement rounds because of that.

TEDx is one of the big highlights because they bring in people who are doing genuinely interesting things, and listening to them kinda shifts your mindset. Then there are sports clubs — like volleyball, badminton, cricket — and the fun part is that everyone participates, not just players.I personally liked how these things break the routine and help you bond with people across batches. Plus, there are clubs for finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, cultural fests, etc., so you end up exploring different sides of yourself. For me, that's what made GIBS more than just classes and assignments.
