As a student at GIBS, in Bangalore, your participation in each lecture, skills session, or assessment is vital for your academic and professional development. When programs place such a strong emphasis on regular attendance, continual assessment and graduated readiness, failure to attend a class will yield multiple academic and professional consequences. Some common consequences are:Consequences of AbsencesAttendance Problems — Attendance is recorded as a key factor for students to qualify for taking exams, progressing to the next semester, etc. If you fail to achieve the required threshold of attendance, it may affect your ability to take exams or progress to the next semester.Lower Continuous Assessment Scores — Assignments, quizzes, class participation, and the group's overall performance (referred to as 'group project') account for a significant portion of your final grade. By being absent from one or more of these sessions, you may decrease your overall grade.Competency Gap Development — By not attending skills sessions or CPMP workshops, you may develop a competency gap in your ability to communicate effectively with others, prepare for your interview, and demonstrate professionalism which could hinder your successful placement.Lost Learning and Feedback — You will not have direct access to the real-time experience of your instructor and any feedback they may provide to assist you in gaining further clarity in your subject matter. Therefore, your difficulty in future classes may increase as you will not have developed that experience.Placement Considerations — Consistent absences will be documented by the career development team which could limit your opportunities for internships and/or interviews.Make-up Requirements — You may be asked to complete make-up assignments, catch up on missed work, or participate in additional sessions to meet academic requirements.Overall, active attendance and participation at GIBS are essential to your success throughout your academic career. Your grades, skills, place readiness and attitude will directly relate to your level of attendance and participation.

That means you don't need to worry about clearing separate minimum marks in each section like VARC, DILR, or QA.They mainly look at your overall CAT percentile and your full profile — including academics and interview performance. So even if one section score is slightly lower, it usually does not disqualify you. GIBS focuses more on your total performance, not sectional cutoffs.

At GIBS Business School, there is no special reservation for CAT or MAT candidates. If you have a CAT or MAT score, you can apply, but the college does not keep separate seats only for those exams. All entrance exam scores are treated equally. At GIBS Business School, there is no special reservation for CAT or MAT candidates. If you have a CAT or MAT score, you can apply, but the college does not keep separate seats only for those exams. All entrance exam scores are treated equally. Admission is mainly based on your overall performance — your entrance test score, past academic marks, and how well you perform in the Group Discussion and Personal Interview. Since GIBS is a private business school, it focuses more on merit and overall profile rather than giving exam-based reservation.

The faculty provide research opportunities for GIBS Business School students by involving them in innovative, research-oriented and entrepreneurial projects as part of the curriculum through taking part in a Research School. This school offers students structured research activities, workshops, and live project work all of which are located under the IRE School. Faculty and industry experts guide students in their execution of these projects and evaluate student performance based on the research, innovative, prototype or business plan that they produce in connection with these projects.Students are also provided opportunities to conduct research during their internship and academic assignments by designing, developing, and submitting a faculty-supervised report that provides a detailed analysis of a particular business problem. This process enables students to develop their problem solving, analytical thinking and employability skills prior to graduation by allowing them to have a sound basis of practical research experience.
