GIBS School of Business teaches through a practical (experiential) method as well as an industry based one. It is not limited to traditional classroom instruction. GIBS uses a variety of methods to help students learn and apply concepts. Included are case studies of real-world companies, live industry projects, simulations, role playing, group presentations, group discussion, and problem solving with an emphasis on applying concepts learned. Faculty also use a variety of tools, including corporate case studies, internships, research projects, business simulation exercises, and assignments based on startup concepts to supplement the curriculum. Guest speakers from various industries, networking opportunities with industry leaders, and participation in conclave events expose students to trends in the marketplace. GIBS's blended approach to teaching creates a unique learning experience by combining clarity of concept with real-world skills, developing leadership effectiveness and preparing students for the job market.

Campus life at GIBS is vibrant/energizing/dynamic on the weekends. Most students participate in sporting events; there is a lively atmosphere among the students and the campus as they cheer for their teams during cricket, football, basketball, and other sports. During cultural festivals, students display their artistic ability through music, dance, and theater, as well as the opportunity to enjoy the diverse backgrounds and talents of their fellow students. Those who prefer a more tranquil setting can find several peaceful locations throughout the campus surrounded by trees, shrubs, and flowers, where students can read, talk, or just relax. Weekend activities, such as group interaction, social gatherings, or participation in clubs and organizations, create an energetic environment and provide a healthy balance between work and relaxation for the student community on the weekends.

During the placement season at GIBS Business School, Bangalore, over 260 firms came into the campus recruiting for their graduate students from all different fields of work which allowed students to receive multiple job offers. The various firms recruiting were from many different industries, including consulting, finance, IT/ITES, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), logistics and start-ups. This demonstrates that the school has a strong relationship with many businesses in these industries. Due to this success, almost all eligible graduates were placed in a job during the school's placement drive, thus allowing students to have a successful outcome upon graduation.

The recent placement period for GIBS Business School saw the participation of more than 260 recruiters offering full-time jobs in a wide variety of fields and industries; meanwhile about 90 companies came to campus to specifically recruit students for intern jobs. This provided students with a lot of hands-on experience and many pre-placement opportunities while they were enrolled in school.

GIBS places a high value on the active involvement of its participants in their academic programs by encouraging them to become consistently present in class. Since GIBS uses an experiential approach to teach its courses, being present each week means being actively involved in the discussion of case studies, working as a team on projects, participating in simulations, and providing feedback on projects while they are being developed, among other things. Participation in these activities is part of the overall assessment process of the student's coursework and is closely monitored at GIBS. This is because how a student participates in class provides insight into their ability to think analytically, to communicate effectively, to be able to work with others, and their potential to lead. So, just like much of the curriculum at GIBS is delivered through discussion and problem-solving practices, missing out on attending classes will, in turn, affect the results of the student's learning and development. In summary, GIBS is committed to ensuring that its graduates have the skills and ability to take on the responsibilities associated with professional careers and the importance of being accountable for one's actions and decisions.

Faculty members at GIBS have advanced degrees, including Ph.D.'s and MBA's, from top universities and extensive experience teaching management-related courses. Many faculty members are also 'practitioners' and have worked in the corporate world in a variety of fields (finance, marketing, human resources, analytics, operations, consulting, etc.) before entering into academia. The GIBS Business School typically has an expected percentiles minimum for entrance exams (for admission to PGDM Programs), although these are, on average, the minimum percentiles expected of new applicants every year (country-wide) and therefore could change from year to year based on the applicant pool and “admissions trends”:CAT/XAT/ATMA: a minimum percentile of around 60 is competitive for applicants to be shortlisted.MAT: about a 60-64 percentile is considered a minimum acceptable score for an applicant in the general category.CMAT: a minimum percentile of around 70 or higher.There is no fixed or official cutoff published by GIBS, but it is important to note that GIBS uses a holistic admissions process, where scores from entrance exams are only one part of an applicant's total score, along with their GPA and performance during the interview and group discussion; therefore, meeting the above percentiles does increase an applicant's chance of being accepted to GIBS, but does not assure acceptance.

The growth of the GIBS campus through relocation has brought about major transformations to GIBS' resources and facilities as they now have upgraded and improved classrooms, luxury villas as hostels, conference halls, training facilities and sports areas. As well as, providing students with a wide array of sporting options such as football, cricket, basketball and pickleball to enhance the overall student experience. The focus of the educational environment is experiential based through outbound training, hands-on learning and very interactive. It allows for students to have a healthy learning, growing and practicable climate that enables them to be able to accomplish their educational goals and develop themselves in a career-oriented environment.
