At GIBS Business School, the CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) is calculated based on a comprehensive evaluation system that consider multiple components. The weightage assigned to each component is as follows:1. Mid-term Examinations: Mid-term examinations contribute 25 marks to the overall CGPA. These assessment are conducted during the midpoint of each trimester to evaluate students' understanding and knowledge of the course material.2. Assignments and Projects: Assignments and projects carry a weightage of 10 marks. These tasks are assigned throughout the trimester to assess students' practical application of concepts and skills learned in the courses.3. Attendance: Regular attendance and active participation are crucial for student engagement and learning. The attendance component contribute 5 marks to the CGPA, encouraging students to attend classes consistently and actively participate in discussions.4. Final Exam: The final exam holds the highest weightage of 60 marks in the evaluation system. It is conducted at the end of each trimester and covers the entire curriculum of the courses. The final exam assesses students' overall understanding and master of the subjects. To calculate the CGPA for each trimester, the grades obtained in each component are converted into grade points. Typically, a predefined scale is used, such as a 4-point scale (e.g., A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, etc.), to assign grade points to different letter grades. The grade points are then multiple by the respective weightage and summed up for each component. The total marks obtained are divided by the total weightage (100 marks) to calculate the CGPA for that particular trimester.Over the span of six trimesters, the CGPA is calculated by averaging the CGPA obtained in each trimester. This provides a comprehensive measure of a student's academic performance throughout their time at GIBS Business School.
