Ideally, the School of Science and Humanities at SRM University may pass for a Tier 2 institution in terms of its academic programmes, facilities and image. This is despite the fact that SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) as a separate university has a great history with engineering and management courses and is usually classified as a Tier 1 institution. Thus, though SRMIST has a Tier 1 image when it comes to technical aspects such as engineering and management, the School of Science and Humanities, which deals with courses such as M.Sc, BBA, and psychology, may be considered slightly lower in rank than the technical or business oriented departments. This demonstrates the different perceptions in college ranking at various academic fields within the SRM University. To therefore, the School of Science and Humanities is likely placed in a Tier 2 level, but it is still able to deliver quality academic programs and reasonable placement in those areas of specialization.

SRM University in Chennai has the School of Science and Humanities, which has a great reputation as it offers different programs such as M.Sc., BBA, and Psychology. SRMIST may be well known to everyone especially those in engineering and information technology but the school of Science and humanities has earned its place as well due to the changing and adopting curriculum, competent teaching support, and placement prospects within industries. Still, perhaps due to the superficial demand of many rankings in present education systems, it would not be ranked in the first position among such institutions in Chennai region because institutions like Sathyabama University or even Loyola College tend to position higher in such domains. Nevertheless, SRMIST is extremely rich in resources and fairly good in terms of career opportunities for the students.
