M.Sc. in Applied Data Science - Batch of 2025

My review of this college.
Placements: The placement quality is really good. Students get placed in reputed topmost MNC companies, which will come for recruitment like TCS, Infosys, and Cognizant. The average package ranges from 3-4 LPA. The core companies have offered the highest packages of 35 LPA. Companies like GE, Flipkart, and Amazon also hire deserving candidates. The quality of companies coming to the university is also increasing by the year. The college does not offer internships. Students have to approach companies themselves and do internships by submitting a college bonafide certificate and a letter of authorization from the department.
Infrastructure: The hostel facilities have both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned options. I have chosen the air-conditioned hostel as it has attached bathrooms. Toilets and rooms are cleaned every day. Non-air-conditioned hostel has attached bathrooms, so my mom insisted on choosing an AC hostel inspire of its high cost. It costs 1.6 lakhs per year, including the mess fee.
Faculty: The overall faculty members in core subjects are really good. The teaching methodology could be improved. Many faculty members are involved in research work, and they also help students as mentors. The majority of the faculty members are highly qualified, and many of them hold the ultimate PhD degree in their respective fields. Exams are really well-structured with a goal for the overall benefit of students. We've got cycle tests, surprise tests, model exams, model practical exams, and finally, the university exam. The structure makes sure that students know something about what they are studying. The course curriculum is excellent and spread over technical as well as non-technical subjects. The wise selection of languages and energy conservation subjects has helped students to widen their area of excellence.

B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication - Batch of 2026
4.4
5Placements3Infrastructure4Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
B.A. JMC at SRM Kattankulatur.
Placements: Weekly alumni talks help students build connections with people in the industry. Most students graduate and get placed through referral. Packages vary from 3 LPA - 7 LPA again depending on campus placements or referral. Recruiting companies are The Hindu, TOI, and Zoho. Roles offered are journalists, editors, HR, PR, and communication roles.
Infrastructure: Classrooms have projectors, but ventilation can be a problem because there are no air-conditioners in this block. Labs have PCs, cameras, and microphones for recording and inbuilt editing software. Hostel food is good and hygienic, but in time is strict, and that can pose an issue.
Faculty: All professors are graduates in the specialisation they teach. Some parts of the course curriculum are outdated. However, most are relevant and tailored for practical learning. With a course like mass communication you need to think, most questions are subjective and need to have an opinion a reason, and research for the same. However, the pattern of the paper can be painful to sit through and write 5-16 mark questions.
Other: The course allows practical experience in different fields of journalism like media, editing, reporting, broadcast, etc. Mass communication has corporate roles like HR, PR, brand positioning/marketing, etc. The classrooms could be better (air-conditioning). Campus in itself is great, campus life, food street, events, open mics, etc.

B.Com. in Information System and Management - Batch of 2024
3.6

My experience in SRM University .
Placements: 200 plus companies are arriving at SRM for placements; the minimum package is 2.5 LPA. You will get at any companies depending on your skills and knowledge; the eligibility criteria is that you have a score of at least 7 CGP with no backlogs and a minimum 60 percentage in both 10 and 12. TCS, Accenture, Sutherland, etc. are the top recruiters; roles may differ from department to department.
Infrastructure: In SRM, the campus is so neat and clean, computer labs have air conditioning and Wi-Fi, every classroom has individual Wi-Fi access for a student, benches are so enough for class members, ventilation is quite enough, and we have 6 floors full of books for each department.
Faculty: Faculty members are so talented and adoptive towards students; they are well trained and friendly in nature. My course is a combined course, so we have wider exposure to face our future. The semester exams are moderate level, and all questions are taken from the syllabus and are so creative.
Other: My course is a combined course of finance, computer science, and management, so I decided to choose this course because of its accessibility. Some filler subjects are there like EVS, etc. They are so low-level it's got to improve syllabus-wise. Milan is a famous event in SRM; it is conducted in February every year. So many clubs and sports activities are there in SRM .

BCA in Data Science - Batch of 2026

It has a good campus to explore. College life is amazing.
Placements: I am from the 2023-2026 BCA data science batch at SRM Kattankulathur, and honestly, placements have been pretty decent for our course. Around 80-85% of students got placed last year. The highest package I heard is 8 LPA, and the lowest package is 3 LPA. The average package is 4.5 LPA. Big companies like Infosys, Cognizant, TCS, Capgemini, and Wipro visited the college for placements. Also, quite a few students got internships, i.e., around 70% in companies like Zoho, Virtusa, and HCL, and some even through a coding platform.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure here is honestly top-notch. We have good labs, strong Wi-Fi in academic buildings, clean classrooms with projectors, and a huge library. There are plenty of systems for practicing coding. The campus is fully digital and pretty convenient. Hostel life is good too. I stay in the non-AC block, and it is comfortable and clean.
Faculty: Most of the faculty members are approachable. If we are into projects or research, then they are willing to guide us. The course curriculum is relevant, with subjects like Python, R, machine learning, big data, etc. We also have guest lectures and workshops that really help us understand the industry.

Strong infrastructure and placements, but more hands-on learning is needed.
Placements: Around 90-95% of CSE students at SRM got placed. The highest package went up to 1 crore+ (international offers), while domestic offers ranged between 40-50 LPA. The average package was around 6-7 LPA and the lowest was 3-4 LPA. Top recruiters included Microsoft, Amazon, Google, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, and Zoho. Around 70-80% of students secured internships at companies like Amazon, Deloitte, TCS, and startups. The top roles offered were Software Engineer, Data Scientist, AI/ML Engineer, and Cybersecurity Analyst. Placement training and industry connections made SRM a strong choice for career growth.
Infrastructure: SRM offered top-notch infrastructure for CSE, including Wi-Fi-enabled classrooms, smart labs for AI, cybersecurity, and cloud computing, and a vast digital library with IEEE and Springer access. Hostels were well-maintained, with AC and non-AC options, but maintenance varied. Mess food was average, while canteens and food courts Domino's, Subways, and A2B offered better choices. The SRM Medical College Hospital provides 24/7 healthcare. Sports facilities were excellent, featuring a cricket ground, football field, basketball courts, a gym, and an indoor stadium. SRM ensured a well-rounded campus experience, balancing academics, sports, and student life effectively.
Faculty: Faculty at SRM was knowledgeable, with some professors being highly experienced, while others focused more on theory. Teaching quality was good, but self-learning and projects were crucial for industry readiness. The curriculum was updated with AI, Cybersecurity, and Cloud Computing electives, but hands-on skills mattered most. Semester exams were moderately difficult, with a pass percentage of 85-90%. Internal assessments helped in scoring well. While SRM provided strong fundamentals, internships, and coding practice were essential for placements. Overall, SRM prepared students well, but real-world skills came from projects, hackathons, and industry exposure.
Other: I chose this course due to my passion for coding, AI, and software development. The best aspects included an updated curriculum, industry electives in AI, Cybersecurity, and Cloud, strong placement support, and excellent labs. However, more hands-on projects and research opportunities would have improved learning. SRM hosted Aarush Tech Fest and Milan Cultural Fest, offering great exposure. The campus was vibrant, with a diverse crowd, good connectivity near Chennai, and strong extracurricular activities. Scholarships were merit-based, but fees were high. Overall, SRM balanced academics, student life, and placements well.

Strong Infrastructure and Placement Support, but Curriculum Could Be More Practical.
Placements: In recent years, SRM IST has achieved a strong placement record for the BCA course. Approximately 80-85% of BCA students have been successfully placed in reputable companies, reflecting a high level of industry readiness. The highest package offered to BCA graduates has ranged around 8-10 LPA (Lacs Per Annum), while the lowest packages typically start around 3-4 LPA. On average, students can expect packages between 4-6 LPA.
Infrastructure: SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRM IST) offers excellent facilities and infrastructure for the BCA department, ensuring a comprehensive learning environment. The campus provides high-speed Wi-Fi access across all areas, modern classrooms equipped with smart boards, and dedicated computer labs with the latest software and hardware to support programming, web development, and data management skills. The central library is extensive, housing a vast collection of digital resources, journals, and books specific to computer applications.
Faculty: At SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRM IST), the BCA faculty are generally experienced, qualified, and approachable, aiming to provide a supportive learning environment.
