See, CAT is an entrance which is all about your aptitude in 3 fields basically and that is verbal, logical reasoning, data interpretation and quantitative aptitude. So, it’s not about going with many books and hindering around to learn from different books as of my experience I found that NCERTs are the best to revise up all your basic concepts upto 10th standard. Moreover, for English and other sections, I suggest you to go through all the books you get from your coaching classes or buy some coaching institute module which is freely available. And practice from that as much as you can. And, if still, you want more and your soul is not g... View more

Hello Akash! You can start preparing for CAT in your third year itself, but there is no need to join any coaching class as of now. For the time being, you can focus on improving your vocabulary(by reading good books, novels, editorial columns of leading newspapers, etc) and mental calculations. You may also solve the logical reasoning based puzzles in your free time. Just ensure that your CAT preparation doesn't affect your engineering studies, as these engineering marks/CGPA will matter a lot during the admission procedures of the various B-schools. All the best!

Hello Animesh,
You did not mention which year you are into. But anyway, the earlier one starts preparing for CAT, the better.
CAT is a tough nut to crack.
Also, I would ask you to not believe over others while choosing a coaching center for yourself.
Rather, I would ask you to shortlist famous ones from your city and then go for some demo classes and then decide.
You will be able to judge better.
Good luck.

If you are going through it during your graduation it will save you plenty of time and energy after graduation. As your link is not broken with the subjects which are very useful in civil services, It is the most appropriate time to go about it. There can be two kinds of strategies you can opt for-
