I would say that a comprehensive plan in studies will help you reach your target. The time table for the study plan should be in tune with your daily needs and schedule. CAT is very competitive exam. In order to crack CAT and get admission in top B-school, you must start your preparation early. Therefore, you can start your informal preparation now and dedicated concentrated preparation six months before examination.

You can prepare for these branches in two ways:
1st you can join any institute like made easy or Ace. They are the good ones and they make the concepts clear. If you don't want to spend money in offline coaching then
2nd choice if you have ample amount of time you can always go for NPTEL and self Study. EC and EE are the most difficult branches from my 4 year of experience I am saying that. Always try to learn and practice previous year papers. Which will be very helpful.

If you have studied well for UP board exams then you may try for JEE this year itself. UP board is tough as compared to CBSE and you still have time for the exam. You can prepare well. Also, if you are not able to crack JEE and don’t get a good engineering college then you can drop a year.
