Usually, questions do not come out of syllabus for both JEE Main and Advanced. But, the questions are analytical and tricky. So, if you have understood the concepts well and practiced a variety of questions during your preparation, then you will find the paper easy. Usually the entrance exams are held in April and May. So, the current event questions are based on last one year. Gk questions can be from anywhere.

The question is quite general. There are many different type of questions asked in an IIM interview. I would try to bucket and cover them all but it won't be exhaustive.
1) Academics :
You should be thorough with your undergrad education. Pick 3 to 5 courses and prepare them inside out. It's absolutely necessary for freshers and even for people with work-ex althought the chances are less. Most of the COMEDK questions are direct questions based on NCERT, however, in combined entrance test many questions are also tricky and require some logic, the level of CET is higher than that of COMEDK exam. This is the difference between both the exams.
