Almost till recently, there was a ban on offering any course that requires substantial practicals, by way of distance education. So I am afraid, post-graduation in the field of any branch of engineering through distance learning would only be in the realm of imagination. I am not aware of any university offering PG in Aerospace Engineering via distance learning.

Manufacturing, in general, is also on the decline in the USA for the last 2 years; so I would recommend being careful about the field that you opt for MS in. Anything that integrates mechanical and the computer has a great scope (mechatronics etc.). While fields like manufacturing will be difficult. Cost of educations is high without scholarships. Quality of Life depends on your industry and location. For Indians, it is great to live in areas like California, Texas, Georgia (with good weather etc.). If you like to do M.Sc, then IIT's is good option. If you want to join government services, then UPSC, SSC & other state level exam is good option.

You need to give entrance exam for getting government jobs such as NET if you want to pursue teaching or other exams such as UPSC for getting government jobs. Also, there are many other exams for getting government jobs.

Since you are asking this question to us to give our preference, first of all I will say that you must check the job availability in both the courses, then think of taking the course. But, for me, I will say that it will be better to take Industrial Microbiology, because you know day by day technology is developing and, thus there will be high requirement of researchers based on industrial microbiology, though both the fields are based on research studies and they generally give emphasis on that only.
