The Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM) is an admission test to Master of Science (M.Sc.) and other post-graduate science programs at the Indian Institutes of Technology, Indian Institute of Science, and other institutes. The main objective of JAM is to provide admissions to various M.Sc., M.Sc.-Ph.D. dual-degree and other post-graduate programs based on the performance in a single test.
You are advised to appear in JAM to seek admission in M.Sc Biotechnology at IIT.

Hi Vasundara, now this is something you have to decide basis your own interest and aptitude. VLSI, Communication systems, Power and energy systems, Nanotechnology etc. Are just some of the very popular specializations? There could be more, universities have their customized curriculum. You have to check the websites and relate what's to your interest. Scholarships are on merit, I doubt with the current CGPA if you will be eligible for one. Work harder on your academics, prepare for the GRE very strong projects and internships, LOR etc. will also be required.

Hi,
There are primarily two hostels for 1st year students- Hostel-1 and Hostel-2. Hostel-1 has a decent infrastructure. It has a good lawn. It has washing machines. The mess food is above average. You also get snacks. If you can cooperate with mess workers you can cook chicken in the mess. You have a TV room and a TT table also inside the hostel. But there is neither LAN connection nor Wi-Fi in H-1.
Also, the hostel timings used to be very restrictive for 1st year students until you get your fresher party. Hostel-2 has a similar infrastructure as Hostel-1. But it has an added advantage of LAN facility.
