There is no academic GRE. What we have is academic and general IELTS. As far as GRE is concerned, there is GRE General and an optional GRE subject test which will test your knowledge in a specific subject. Check for admission requirements of the universities you plan to apply to. Some may not require GRE at all and if they do (mostly in US and Canada), you must opt for GRE general and/or the optional subject test. I hope it helped.
