- Basic education
- Age (maturity)

1. Basic Education
- UG applicants: Grade 12 in a relevant discipline from a recognised board of education with English as a mandatory subject and an overall score of 50% aggregate
- PG applicants: A three or four-year Diploma or Bachelor degree in relevant discipline from a recognised institution
2. Age/Maturity
- 19-year old applicants or older may apply as mature students

Entrance examinations are conducted as per the government norms for MSW and MA (Journalism and Mass Communication). Hence, admission to these courses is entrance-based. For other courses, there are no entrance exams.
