Yes, there is a link. It is not so widely known to the masses because it often plays a role behind the curtain. It's known as audio engineering, and it mainly deals with knobs, faders, levels and your ears (instincts too).
Film Audio Production has various departments handling little portions of what later mixes up and becomes the Film Sound. Mixing engineers, Recording Engineers, arrangers ,composers, artists, session players ,actors and actresses (for dialogues and dubbing) and the "Foley guys" of course, are almost all of the sectors which a Music Director Handles and judges in real time. He is the conductor and the production team is the orchestra. Now, an audio engineer has his/her sector where they handle everything from a seat in the "control room”, where there is a mixing console, monitors, silence and isolation, and a stable temperature. Their role is to record sounds and then polish them with the help of processors and digital tools. in the modern times, studios are becoming obsolete due to the developments in the music technology and instruments sector, hence a person can just sit at home and conduct a recording or edit and mix as software have taken place of the big and expensive equipment of a studio, but Film And television production still use superior and ultra-modern studio facilities due to the quality of production it demands. You can get opportunity if you have the right contacts and invest time in socializing with like-minded folks who can help you. You need to learn studio sound and dynamics and recording techniques and equipment and everything else related to sound and music. Musicians call it music and audio engineers call it sound.

It depends on what you consider a DJ to be. See, just like every other professional career, being a DJ is quite something you can't brag about to those rich executives because everyone knows that it is mildly difficult to become a DJ. You now don't even have to mix from your ear through the cue out on your headphone, you have the sync button. So, don't get me wrong or offended when I say this but this is true and you know it. Me being a DJ/audio engineer/producer/composer can tell that you definitely NEED to have at least something special and unique about yourself, and that can be achieved only if you actually learn to manipulate music, notes and scales and arpeggios and what not. If you have the knowledge of music then you will not be just a DJ, you'll be a good DJ.
