The IITs have a common admission process for undergraduate admissions, called IIT-JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. Aviation academies do not use JEE score.

All the courses have their own demands. You need to first decide your career aspirations and interest areas and based on it pick up a course. A person who pursues a course based on his interest areas and inherent personality traits generally does well from self in professional career.

To become a commercial pilot:
1. You need to first possess a student pilot license. You must be over 17 years of age and have completed 12th in Science (Physics and mathematics) with 50%.
2. Your vision in one eye must be perfect. In general medical terminology, it is called 6/6 eyesight. In the other eye, you could have an imperfection of 6/9, which must be correctable to 6/6.
3. General physical fitness is mandatory. You must be free of any disease that can hamper normal function.
4. You need to register at a flying club which is recognised by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Government of India.
5. Next is private pilot lic

In India, the cost of training is between 25 to 40 Lacs. In US, it costs around 25 to 30 Lacs all included.
For Airline job, you have to further do a type rating which costs an additional 16-24 lacs. (I did TR after getting the job, but I had to pay for it)
So, yes it is expensive. Job opportunities come up with time but are very limited and highly competitive. There are about 100 airline openings for freshers a year in India and there are already 6000+ unemployed CPL holders with around 500+ type rated guys.
