No, it is not necessary. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) with its Headquarters in Montreal – Canada is the trade association for the world's airlines. It is representing some 250 airlines or 84% of total air traffic. IATA supports many areas of aviation activity and formulates industry policies and guidelines on critical aviation issues which are implemented worldwide.
IATA offers training in aviation services:
1. Cabin crew training.
2. Airport operations.
3. Cargo operations.
4. Travel and tourism and so on.
The course will be helpful for those who wish to associate their work with airline industry.

To become a commercial pilot:
1. You need to first possess a student pilot license. You must be over 17 years of age and have completed class 12th with science (Physics and mathematics) with 50%.
2. Your vision in one eye must be perfect. In general medical terminology, it is called 6/6 eyesight. In the other eye, you could have an imperfection of 6/9, which must be correctable to 6/6.
3. General physical fitness is mandatory. You must be free of any disease that can hamper normal function.
4. You need to register at a flying club which is recognized by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Government of India.

You have the following options to become a pilot:
1. You can join a flying club to obtain commercial pilot license. The eligibility to become a commercial pilot is PCM in class 12th.
2. You can join Indian Air Force Flying Pilot branch by appearing in NDA, CDS examinations conducted by UPSC. IAF trains selected candidates.
