The large number of B.Tech options in India should direct students toward education at the premier institutions among IITs, NITs and private universities. The three leading IITs include IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi and IIT Kanpur at costs ranging from INR 2.2 Lacs to INR 10 Lacs annually for tuition fees. NIT Trichy together with NIT Warangal and NIT Surathkal stand as top NITs because they charge annual fees between INR 1.3-2.2 lakh. The education costs at BITS Pilani and Manipal Institute of Technology and VIT Vellore amount to between INR 3.5 Lacs and INR 4.5 Lacs annually.

A few private colleges in India admit students directly on the basis of merit, ignoring entrance tests. These are Shobhit University, Meerut, and Sigma University. A few other institutions are UPES Dehradun, which accepts class 12 marks, and BITS Pilani, which grants direct board-toppers admission. Manipal Jaipur has direct admissions if not all seats get filled up in the MET counseling process. K.R. Mangalam University is another good example. Note that eligibility criteria like minimum marks in class 12 with PCM subjects differ.

Sure there are a number of decent yet inexpensive colleges under the COMEDK umbrella including Bangalore's BMS College of Engineering offering a fee of about Rs 66,000/year having seen good placement and PES College of Engineering charges up to Rupees 1.63 lakh/ year and seeing good connections in the market. The other is also Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering known for academic excellence and on par fee-wise. These institutions provide quality education and robust placement opportunities, making them attractive choices for value-seeking students in pursuit of engineering education.

Scope for a distance BTech degree in India varies based on accreditation of the university, engineering specialization, and skills of the candidate.

In general, a distance BTech is good for any professionally employed individual and one who does not wish to attend regular classes. The issue sometimes faced is the recognition of the distance BTech degree by top companies or government jobs, which favour regular BTech graduates.

In fact, it might be a dream come true for many of the students of the distance learning B.Tech degree course in India. It is not important whether public or private sector corporations hire the students.
