Here it goes-
Biotechnology is a new field relative to other engineering courses. You need to keep this in mind whenever you are considering scope of biotechnology. Next up is jobs. Biotechnology can lead you to research as well as industrial jobs. Each of them has their own advantages. Research needs time and a lot of focus. Jobs in industry are grueling. So, it needs to be kept in mind that whatever you do you take up the things you like. Jobs include pharmaceutical companies, jobs in pathology labs, sales etc.

You may feel dejected after reading this answer, but I am sorry this is the truth. Biotechnology is emerging field and every year gaining double-digit growth rate. Biotechnology is a heavy subject which requires a lot of professional skills, analytical thinking, perseverance, patience. Biotechnology is growing in India not just limited to one aspect, one can go for M.Tech, research, Content editing profiles. Depending on the profiles package varies. Universities like Lovely Professional University, Phagwara provides B.Tech, B.Sc. Courses for Biotech with good placements.

Scope can be categorised in several ways. So, I am writing in two major sections so that one can use it as per the broad interest.
Employability:
Pharmacy gives better employability as compared to biotech, biochem or microbio. The reason is the huge pharma industry. B.Pharma. Itself give you an okay job while M.Pharma. May give you a reasonably decent job. Pharma sector includes several fields of work from research, development and manufacturing to sales and distribution.
