Go for the college which are good in terms of education and placements. Biotechnology provides a firm basis for pursuing a career in any aspect of Science involving food, pharmaceutical or environmental sectors, molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, nanobiotechnology, use of microbes, DNA vaccines, production of new materials using new ideas, new drug-delivery systems, organ transplantation, rational drug design, nutraceuticals, plant-based drugs, enzyme engineering and technology, stem cell techniques, and tissue culture. Biotechnologists can find employment in a wide range of industries like food processing, breweries and pharmaceuticals. Also, the M.Sc. The scope in Biotechnology (or say any other field also) depends upon how consistent, hardworking you are and majorly depends also the available market opportunities. The above two factors are in completely your hand. However for market opportunities, you have the good options nowadays. You may join the big MNCs like Ranbaxy Labs, Dr. Reddy's (Labs). Also hospitals like Apollo, Aaditya Birla Memorial, Lilawati etc. Do hires Biotechnology students for their own labs. You can also try for Patanjali, sometimes do also issue the vacancies for Biotechnology for Research and Development. Aliya, One thing I would suggest, do as many internships as you can Because the competition in this feild is high, so you also need have some work experience before going somewhere. Hope this helps. Hello Amal Das, You have given list of all very interesting, the latest specialisations and asking for scope. Okay. Let me attempt. Astrophysics is comparatively old subject and it's scope is limited to research and hence if you are really fascinated & interested in research, you should not venture. Data Science has tremendous scope in the times to come. AI of course goes hand in hand with data Science and is being increasingly used. Biotechnology too had very good potential in India keeping in mind the requirement of increasing productivity of our farmers. Nanotechnology is another subject which promises great things but is yet to prove it's mettle. But don't go by what I am saying. Follow your heart, go for the subject that fascinates you the most. The four-year B.Tech. Curriculum focuses on the technological applications in biology. The three-year B.Sc. Course is conducted as any other Science subject and the students can go for the M.Sc. Course and take up research later. The B.Tech Course is a better option. After a B.Tech degree, students can find jobs in pharmaceutical companies, research labs and institutions in India. However, most students tend to go abroad to pursue their Masters or doctorate studies in Biotechnology and allied fields. Some also shift to MBA and enter the world of business, finance and banking as their engineering background gives them the required quantitative skills to excel in these sectors. Many shift to software through on-campus placements. Regarding on-campus placements, since the number of job openings is very less in Biotechnology, the number of companies coming for placements will be few. Core companies only hire students from universities such as IITs, NITs, etc.
