Hello, I think the starting salary would be around 15k-18k in MNC's, 13k -15K in Indian based MNC's & 10k - 13k in normal companies as per industrial trend. It is very hard to say that B.Tech biotech students situation is even worse than a degree in biotech students. If you are in the already B.Tech biotech course, try to auger your skills in lab techniques and handling of equipment like HPLC, GC, atomic gas spectrophotometry, etc. thoroughly. I will suggest you try for internships in DBT programmes from your fourth year itself and try to search for jobs in your fourth year starting itself dear. If you are not interested in the LAB env

Dear Himanshi,
It would be my suggestion to go for organic chemistry instead go for food science and technology. It would better if you choose Organic chemistry instead of food science bcoz in companies every body asks you the question why did you join in food science instead of chemistry or related groups. Then you should in a position to explain those questions. My suggestion is to go for M.Sc chemistry or organic chemistry. Opportunities in chem & Organic chem are really good in the pharma industry. All the best.

Hello Sipismita,
No, I am afraid you will not be eligible for admission in MA economics based on your B.Sc in biotechnology. You will have to do BA in economics first.

The job opportunities for M.Sc graduates in a highly research oriented field as biotechnology is very less and most students tend to pursue their M.Sc in Biotechnology or a specialized discipline of biotechnology. India is home to some excellent M.Sc programs such as JNU, DU, IISc, TIFR, IITs, etc.

If you have research orientation then M.Sc Ph.D is a better option in comparison to B.Tech-M.Tech Biotechnology. If you want to work as an engineer or manager in biotech companies then B.Tech-M.Tech is a better option.
