Unlike many other prestigious Delhi-based institutions like DTU or NSUT, JNU does not reserve a percentage of seats for students from the NCR. Also, the seat matrix is strictly gender-neutral. While many engineering colleges add "Female Supernumerary" seats to balance the gender ratio, JNU's current intake of 126 does not include these extra seats, making the admission process purely based on category-wise merit ranks.

JNU BTech admission process start with cracking the JEE Main examination. Once the results are declared, you must participate in the centralised counselling process conducted by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) or the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB). For international students or Non-Resident Indians, admissions are typically handled through the DASA (Direct Admission of Students Abroad) scheme. There is no separate entrance exam or application form to be filled out on the JNU website for BTech.

No, JNU is quite supportive when it comes to financial backgrounds. The university uses a tiered system to make education affordable. If your family's annual income is below INR 1 Lakh, you fall into the "Economically Most Backward" category and your BTech tuition fee is completely waived, meaning you pay INR 0 for tuition. For those with a family income between INR 1 Lacs and INR 5 Lakhs, the fee is heavily subsidized at just INR 20,833 per semester. Only students whose family income exceeds INR 5 Lakhs per year are required to pay the full tuition fee of INR 62,500.
