The eligibility criteria for admission to MBA programme at IGNOU is as follows as per the AICTE norms: (a) Any graduate (Including Chartered Accountancy/ Cost Accountancy/ Company Secretaryship) with 50% marks for general category/ 45% for reserved category as per government of India rules. (b) Clearance of OPENMAT conducted by IGNOU. (c) There is no age bar. Admission to Management Programmes of IGNOU is done through OPENMAT Entrance test, held twice a year. For appearing in the entrance test (OPENMAT) a student has to fill up Application Form for OPENMAT Entrance Test). The next Entrance Test will be held on the following dates:

Government universities and private B-schools have defence quota as per Government policy for dependents of Defence personnel killed in action (war, counter insurgency or war like operation), disabled in action (war, counter insurgency or war like operation), with more than 50% disability, next of kin of service personnel who have D.Ed while in service, death being attributable to military service. SIMS, Pune has defence services quota.
