No, unlike a popular misconception, the B.Com degree is not compulsory if you want to become a CA. The CA is a professional course like the MBA. After completing the 12th grade, you can enroll in this course through the CPT route. It depends on when you are joining this course. Those who pursue CA courses straight after the 12th grade require around five years to complete the programme. The duration of the CA course for those joining after graduation is three years. To become a chartered accountant, one has to clear three levels along with three years of articleship.

  1. The first level is the CA foundation stage.
  2. The second level is CA Intermediate.
  3. The third level is the CA final, consisting of groups one and two. If you fail at any level, you will have to repeat it, which will increase the course duration for you.

If you are doing course or a Bachelor degree from a regular college which required attending the classes baby then it's a bit difficult to manage the articleship classes and studies on both the college and the few coaching daily life due SOL or IGNOU and then side by side doing the CA course.
