To become an IAS, you need to give UPSC CSAT exam. After you clear this exam you will be required to give Mains. Based on your performance in Mains you will be called for interview round . Based on combined score of CSAT, Mains and interview final result is prepared and different departments are allocated which comprises of viz. IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS, and few others.
