Hi Mohit,
The main officers on the ship are Executives, Navigators and Engineers. Engineers take care of the running of the ship and Executive Officers look after all activities on the deck. In terms of functional hierarchy the officers have 'ratings' working under their supervision in each of the three major departments i.e. deck, engine room and catering.
Skills required:
Genuine interest in a life on the seas
Tough physical constitution,
Practical and resourceful,
Manual dexterity,
Good administrative skills,
Liking for Adventure.

Hi Badal,
I would suggest you to gain professional experience before venturing. If you look at most of the start-up founders, they had professional experience before they set their own firm.
If you have an idea that you think would do wonders, then atleast work with a start-up for some time (intern or full time - 6months) to know how things work in a start-up.
A management degree from top notch institution would assist in a big way. You have to work hard for CAT, GMAT as your scores in the BE, 12th and 10th aren't great.
