As you know, BDS is called as Bachelor of Dental Surgery but even though you cannot designate your self as Dental Surgeon unless you have Masters Degree i.e MS). So you must have MS to be called as dental surgeon.

In terms of career options both the courses have better prospectus currently as well in future also. Medical technology industry in India Riding the growth curve. Healthcare has become one of India's largest sectors both in terms of revenue and employment. India is cost competitive compared to Asia and Western countries.
