Becoming an EMT is a physically demanding career with plenty of lifting, extended shift hours, and responding to emergencies of any size.

EMTs have work environments that can be stressful, and they must be prepared to respond quickly, and sometimes to extreme environments in extreme weather or chaotic scenes. It does take stamina, mental toughness, and sufficient muscle strength to be successful as an EMT.
