For doing MBA or PGDM from well renowned institutes you have to give entrance exams.
It may be CAT, NMAT, SNAP, XAT or MAT. Without giving entrance exams you won't be allowed to go in good institutes.

If you manage to get preparation along with your job then it is the best option for you. But if you won't be able to do that then you could go for it. Preparation for GATE is a good choice for you to get admission in IIM.

Exams are such Lokesh, they do not always go the way we want it to. Bitter but true, isn't it? But one bad day does not mean a bad life. If you work hard my friend, put your heart and soul in CAT 2018 preparations then who knows you might end up sitting in an IIM as a student attending classes the very next year. So please don't lose hope, do the thing which is under your control i.e. prepare well. All the best!
