CAT score above 95 percentile is good enough to get calls from top-20 B-Schools of India. To get into IIMs 98-99 + percentile is required. A good work/academic profile with good CAT scores is good enough to get into top B-Schools.

Hi Iliyas,
For tier-1 colleges, you need to score around 97-99 percentile whereas for tier 2 colleges above 90 percentile would be sufficient to get admission.

Hi Raja,
Both the exams are difficult and different from each other. Anybody can appear for CAT but GATE is only for engineers for which you need to have sound technical knowledge.
Hope this helps.

CAT is a bit difficult exam than MAT, but there are only few good B-Schools that accept MAT scores, whereas most of the top B-Schools accepts CAT scores. Even if you don't have Maths background, a determined practice approach will help you to clear Quant section of CAT.

Cut-off is different for different years owing to various reasons. This year, the cut-off was 75 percentile for general category students. If your percentile was this much or more, you must have received the call and you must have come for GD-PI. There is no provision for a single girl child. Our criteria is 50% weightage to CAT score, 15% to GD,15% to PI and 20% to past academic records. So, yes, your good academic records will help but no reservation for single girl child.
