Hi
No, not after 12th or any UG. You have to do an MBBS first. The eligibility criteria of MD (Doctor of Medicine) is given below.
1. Degree - The candidate needs to hold MBBS degree or provisional MBBS pass certificate as recommended under Indian Medical Council Act 1956.
2. Registration - The candidate must possess permanent or provisional registration certificate issued by MCI or State Medical Council showing MBBS qualification.

it would be better to go for a degree course. It is much better than a Diploma for future career prospects as well. Getting placement depends upon your cv also.
