- Introduce yourself to professors
- Try to explore Mount Pleasant as much as possible while studying at CMU. There are various parks system, local coffee shops, and some great restaurants at Mount Pleasant
- If you are living in the residence halls, try to get to know the other students
- Get involved with the various activities be it student organizations or sports team at CMU Michigan

According to student alumni reviews, CMU is a great place to study, but this notion will depend on what a student want to study. It is a mid-size school in town but has everything that a student requires. The programs like Business, Education, and Health Education programs are well-known for being excellent.
- Most of the professors are great and most of the facilities and buildings and clean and properly maintained
- There are plenty of housing options
- At the campus, there is always something going on or in town. There are various opportunities to volunteer and get involved in different causes
