Chemical Engineering is a branch of science that applies physical sciences (physics and chemistry) and life sciences (microbiology and biochemistry) together with applied mathematics and economics to produce, transform, transport, and properly use chemicals, materials and energy. It is a niche engineering branch with lot of job opportunities. Majority of job opportunities will be large chemical factories of PSU & MNC and design firms. Chemical engineers are employed by Petrochemical companies also.

IT, Computers and electronics are the trending branches as of now and this is mainly because of the booming IT service sector. If you are not someone keen on joining an IT company and has some interest towards chemical engineering, then you should opt for chemical engineering. Chemical engineering offers a lot of opportunities in the petrochemical, pharmaceutical, fertilizer companies etc. Post Chemical engineering, you also have an option to do masters and PhD.
