Mining in NIT RKL is good. You can even opt for chemical or mining. I would rather suggest mining seeing it's opportunities. With 97.62, you stand a chance of getting into one.

Companies like Shell (INR. 16 PA), Unilever (INR. 7 LPA), Reliance (INR.5.5 LPA), Hindalco (INR. 6 LPA), Zuari fertilizers and cements, Pokarna (INR. 6 LPA), ABB, Dow Chemicals, SABIC, Derrick Petroleum (INR. 8 LPA), Reddy labs (INR. 6 LPA), ATE India visited the campus for recruitment.
All the students who registered for the placements were placed successfully with an average pay of around INR. 6 lpa- INR. 8 lpa.

If you are a B.Tech in Polymer graduate then you can appear for GATE and all other UG based entrances as well. There are a lot of options one can pursue after graduation. State your field to get better answers.

I can answer the question for the M.Tech students. In 2015, 2016, 2017 placement sessions, the companies in which the M.Tech candidates got placed are as follows:
Pfizer, Honeywell UOP, Parul University, Cognizant, Lanxess, Aditya Birla Science & Technology, Hikal, EXL Analytics, Tiger Analytics, IOCL RnD, and few more.

Madras Institute of Technology comes under Anna University. So the campus is authorised to attend placements in Guindy campus of Anna University too. Now coming to the statistics, Accenture, Accolite, Air Watch, Amazon, Chronus, Citicorp, CTS, Flipkart, TCS, RBS and many others come to the campus for placements.
