In Chemistry all disciplines like Inorganic, Organic, Physical, Analytical Chemistry are equally important for Research. If you are not onto research, then you can choose your favorite discipline. Each discipline has its own scope in Industry.

You should prepare for CSIR NET (now known as NTA Joint CSIR-UGC NET)
UGC NET has no chemical sciences paper
CSIR NET has a Chemical sciences paper
As an M.Sc. Chemistry candidate for NET, you should choose Chemical sciences paper.

It depends upon the institutes you were studying. In my college, for B.Sc. Chemistry I have 3 major papers of Chemistry disciplines (Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry Allied or Elective papers (Maths, Physics and other
Interdisciplinary paper) and Language papers English and Tamil).

There is no entrance exam as Compulsory for B.Sc. Chemistry admission. You can get admitted to top institutes through entrance exam but you can join the same degree without entrance exam in some public/private colleges in any state if they offer.
