As per people's opinion, the Department of Journalism at Madras Christian College is well-regarded for its BA in Journalism program. Students have praised the program for its emphasis on fundamental principles of journalism for print, broadcast media, and new media. The curriculum is regularly revised with input from subject experts and journalists, aiming to provide a combination of theory and practical papers to meet industry requirements. Additionally, the college is noted for offering more than just academics, providing a place for students to learn, unlearn, and re-learn.

Madras Christian College does not conduct any entrance exam for admission to its Bachelor of Arts in Journalism program. Admissions are based on merit, and candidates should have a minimum score of 50% marks in class 12th. As the college offers only one course i.e. B.A. The admission to the same is on class 12th merit.
