To become an IAS officer, you basically need a UG degree and more over age limit is the main constraint. You need to complete or attempt for IAS exams before the age limit crosses. After your UG I would suggest you to get through the right institution which provides IAS coaching. A proper academy with an experienced person training. This will give you overall exposure about the examinations and other process of the examinations. They will even help you in how to study the syllabus in short span of time. People advised me as a student to study 18hours daily to clear IAS successfully. So I would suggest you start reading books and try ga

You can prepare for civil services via coaching classes or online classes. On the other hand, you can do it by yourself using different books available in the market for preparation of SSC. You should do your graduation simultaneously along with your preparations.

It would be best if you start preparing for the final year because engineering as such is a tough course and you have to rough it out. Or you can even start fresh after completing the degree if you can manage for a year without placement.
All the best.
