Hi Anup,
For CBI, you can give SSC examination, while for RAW and IB, there are separate examinations. For RAW, vacancies come out through central secretariat, while for IB, an exam is conducted for ACIO (Assistant Central Intelligence Officer). Moreover, you can also go for IPS services, where you can later on opt for separate cadres in RAW, IB and CBI on deputation.

Everyone has their own opinion and choice of college should be according to one's own preferences and priorities but when it comes to my opinion, I think IPS should be chosen because of its unique concept of on job training . It also provides certificate courses from IIM, Ahmedabad & IIM, Bangalore. Yes, practical knowledge is equally important to make a successful career.

Hi,
To pursue IAS, there is no need to go for a particular degree. You can study any degree and write UPSC exam. The questions are political and based on general knowledge. So there is no need to have a specific degree.

Hi Shashi, there is no restriction to the educational background. You can be a graduate in any discipline however since a police officer is required to understand the legal system you can pursue law or even political science or economics but there is no such criteria. You must, however, give the IPS exam or even the UPSC/State PSC exams.

If you want to become an IAS officer, you better choose BA as it will help you in your preparations a lot. Choose economics as your honor and keep in touch with the current events. Go through the newspaper everyday and read magazines regularly as it will boost up your general ability as well as brush up your vocabulary skills. History, geography and political science are the subjects that you will be taught in BA. If you choose other options like B.Tech, then it will be a little difficult for you.
