Language for many programs at TU Dortmund is German. For successful study, knowledge of German language is required. German language proficiency tests that are accepted are- DSH, TestDAF. When it comes to studying English language program, students require English language. Check out official website of university to know about course requirements.

As per Times Higher Education ranking, TU Dortmund ranks at #401-500 in 2025. Furthermore, in the QS rankings, it ranks at #673 in 2026.

Yes, foreign students who have a permanent residence permit do not require a special work permit. As a rule, international students may be employed for 120 full days or 240 half days per year. Foreign students may be employed as student assistants.

International students at TU Dortmind can go for internships. Students can go for voluntary internships. But, foreign students can do part-time jobs for a total of 120 full days or 240 half days per year. This internship will be counted as regular work, even if it is unpaid. Note that in many degree programs, the internships are compulsory.

Students can apply via Uni-Assist by TU Dortmund. Prospective students have to register in the online portal 'My Assist'. After the successful registration, online applications can be created and submitted for any desired degree program. Make sure to submit the documents that are required to be uploaded such as the highest school leaving certificate, German language proficiency certificate, APS certificate, certificate of completion of studies, etc.
