Every student is assigned a mentor, and there is a method for the mentor and mentee to communicate about any subject whatsoever, including academics. For all disciplines, 40% of the total is internal and 60% is external. The internal examination consists of seven distinct components. It is brought out here that each of the seven components is not an examination and the assessment of the examiner on the way student performs is what matters. In addition to this a student can request rechecking whenever there is an examination and if this fails then the student has the option of appearing for compartment examination without losing any year of study. Over and above this the institute offers grace marks to enable students to pass when they have just marginally failed.
