University of Madras is known for being affordable while maintaining high academic standards for its MBA. Since it is a public state university, the fees are often more competitive. Its tuition fees is INR 56,000 for the entire regular course, which is vastly lower than private B-schools.

University of Madras strictly adheres to the Tamil Nadu Government's communal reservation policies for MBA seat allotment. It divides the total seats proportionately across categories (General Turn, BC, MBC/DNC, SC, ST).

University of Madras offers 50 seats for the Self-Supportive MBA. Similar to the regular program, these seats are also subject to the government's reservation policy. The curriculum and the degree value remain the same as the regular course.

University of Madras maintains different fee structures for the Regular and Self-Supportive MBA tracks. The Regular MBA has a fee structure of INR 53,482 for both years. It has a lower fee as it is subsidised. The Self-Supportive track has a higher fee of INR 1,09,502, because of a different funding model.  

University of Madras emphasises specialised learning and research in the final semester of the MBA. Students choose their final elective courses and must complete a major project work. This project is evaluated through a viva-voce conducted by examiners. It allows students to demonstrate their deep understanding of a specific business challenge before they graduate.

University of Madras requires a mandatory summer internship for all MBA students. This internship happens during the vacation after the first year.
