University of Mysore is widely considered worth the reputation for its historical prestige, solid academics, and beautiful campus and NAAC accreditation. Founded in 1916 it is recognised as top government institution with affordable, quality education. However it may not compete with top tier national technical institutes for placement often viewed as solid, traditional choice rather than top tier brand.

Choice between University of Mysore & Visvesvaraya Technological University depends on field of study as they serve different primary purposes. On the other hand VTU is a specialised state technical university designed exclusively for engineering & technology offering more rigid curriculum geared towards industry specific placements & technical skills with many prestigious affiliated engineering colleges operating under its banner.
