Admission to NEHU Shillong is conducted based on NEET PG scores. Candidates should have valid NEET PG scores to get into NEHU Shillong. Moreover, 7k rank in NEET PG is sufficient to get admission at NEHU Shillong. NEHU Shillong offers MD and MS courses based on NEET PG scores. In 2024, the NEHU Shillong NEET PG cutoff stood between 451 and 95209 for the General AI category candidates. While analysing the cutoffs, the programme having the highest demand among candidates was MD in Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy. In contrast to it, the programme having the lowest demand was MD in Anatomy.

On average previous admission data indicates that NEHU Shillong will require 70-80% exam scores and ranks between 200-500 for MSc Physics applicants based on entrance results. The basic eligibility criteria required by the NEHU Shillong for admissions to BTech courses is candidates must complete their Class 12 from the Science stream, including Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Technical Vocational subjects. To get admission into the course, the university accepts the score of the National Level Entrance Exam- JEE Mains.

NEHU Shillong offer four-year BTech courses, divided into eight semesters, and offered in full-time mode. The eligibility criteria is that the candidates must complete their Class 12 with a minimum aggregate of 75%. There are BTech lateral entry courses in some of the specialsiations as well. The entrance exam accepted by the university to get admission into BTech courses is they must have secured valid scores in JEE Mains.

NEHU Shillong does not offers direct admission. Additionally, the selection process of MBA courses includes the scores of entrance exams- CUET-PG and MAT. Students qualify Bachelor's degree from the recognised university/ institute.
