Civil is a good branch, you have so many interesting subjects to learn, many people choose to avoid giving civil a preference 'cause they think Civil me placement nahi hota' 'Construction site par kaam karna padega .But civil has so many sub branches (Structural, Environmental, Transportation, Water Resources, Construction technology, etc) which gives a good opportunity for further studies.
I agree that the placement scenario of civil is poor if you compare it to Mech, CSE, ECE, EEE , but if you are good with your subjects it shouldn't be a problem.

Marks do not have much to do here. What really matters is your AIR
No one can accurately predict the opening and closing ranks for a particular college. It depends on your branch and category. You can have a look at last year's opening and closing ranks. That should give you a fair idea.

We get to learn a lot of new stuff We do not really have fixed textbooks and not everything in the tests is out of a particular book. LPU believes in first come, first serve, with each passing phase the scholarship reduces, due to limited available seats and growing competition. The amount of Scholarship also depends on the Phase in which the candidate takes admission in the University. (Phase I) starts as early as January 2021 and continues till the end of April 2021. The subsequent phases (Phase-II, III, IV, V) are conducted only if the seats in the concerned Programme remain vacant. The amount of Scholarship reduces with each passing phase and no scholarship is offered in Phase - V (if conducted). .
