In the 2022 placement drive at Desh Bhagat University, 856 out of 2,234 students were successfully placed. Furthermore, the placement scenario witnessed an impressive the highest package of INR 8.00 LPA and an average package of INR 4.50 LPA. Additionally, the university conducted 52 on-campus recruitment processes and 10 On and Off-campus drives as part of the extensive placement efforts in 2022. Notable companies like Infosys, IBM, and PepsiCo were among the top recruiters at Desh Bhagat University during the same year.

The list of recruiters participating in the IKGPTU placements for 2023, including prominent names such as TCS, HDFC Bank, Decathlon, Infosys, etc., has been published. The Central University of Punjab (CUP) requires a minimum score of 239 for general category students to be admitted to MBA programs in 2023. For other MBA programs, students should check the official CUP website. The overall CUET-PG cutoff for 2023 is 87–245 marks.

The cutoff for PG courses like MA Political Science, MA Psychology, MBA Agribusiness, and MA International Relations and Political Science ranges from 270–230 to 280–240. To be eligible for admission, candidates must have a bachelor's degree in Commerce with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade. For SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/PWD, the minimum is 50%. Candidates must also appear for the CUCET entrance exam for the academic year.

The Central University of Punjab (CUP) requires candidates to have a Master's degree in a relevant subject with a minimum of 60% marks to be eligible for admission. Candidates can apply for admission through the university's official website. 

For M.Tech in Computer Science and Technology, candidates must have:-

• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 60% marks.
• A minimum of 6.5 CGPA for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC candidates.
• A minimum of 55% marks for SC/ST/PwD candidates.

For M.Tech admission in 2024, the CUP accepts the following exams: GATE, CCMT, CUET.

According to some sources, the Central University of Punjab (CUP) is less expensive than other universities in India.  The average annual fee for courses at the Central University of Karnataka (CUK) is approximately INR 59,587. General category students pay Rs. 50,000 per semester at CUK.  However, SC/ST students are exempt from tuition fees if their family's annual income is less than Rs. 6 lakhs.

The Central University of Punjab (CUP) has a selection process for M.Tech that includes an entrance test and counseling. Eligible candidates must take the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET). Admission is based on the marks obtained in the CUCET. The minimum GATE score for the general category in 2022 was 359. The 2023 GATE cutoff for the general category was 363–371. 

The final selection of candidates is based on: -

80 percent weightage of the GATE score

20 percent weightage of marks in the personal interview
