Design

The selection process for M.Des at NID Gandhinagar involves two stages:

Stage 1: NID Entrance Exam (DAT)

The DAT is a comprehensive aptitude test that assesses candidates' design skills, problem-solving abilities, and creative potential. The exam consists of two parts:

• DAT Prelims: A screening test that eliminates candidates who do not demonstrate the basic aptitude for design.
• DAT Mains: A more detailed assessment of design skills, including concept development, sketching, problem-solving, and communication.

Candidates must score well in both the DAT Prelims and DAT Mains to qualify for the next stage of the selection process.

Stage 2: Design Aptitude Test and Interview

Shortlisted candidates from Stage 1 are invited to NID Gandhinagar for a Design Aptitude Test (DAT) and an interview. The DAT assesses candidates' ability to apply design principles to solve real-world problems. The interview evaluates candidates' overall design aptitude, portfolio, communication skills, and motivation for pursuing the M.Des program.

The minimum NID Entrance Exam score required for M.Des admission varies depending on the specific specialisation and the competition each year. However, as a general guideline, candidates should aim for a score of 75% or above in both the DAT Prelims and DAT Mains to increase their chances of selection.
