Mass Communication builds a foundation for becoming a director. It teaches you camera, editing, script writing etc. Which are essential for a director to know. Once you complete your graduation, you can enroll yourself in a specialised course for film direction.

I would suggest you to go for a mass communication course instead both of this as it will teach you both about film-making and graphic designing. From there, you can get into either of the fields.

Yes, you can definitely work as a film editor after completing a course of video editing.
On its most fundamental level, film editing is the art, technique, and practice of assembling shots into a coherent sequence. The job of an editor is not simply to mechanically put pieces of a film together, cut off film slates, or edit dialogue scenes.
