MBA has the same curriculum in the 1st year for all the students. A student can opt for specialisations in the 2nd year. General management will be a combination of study topics such as HR, finance, marketing, operations, and general management concepts. Whereas, MBA in finance will have special finance subjects like banking and insurance, mergers and acquisitions and private equity instead of subjects taught in HR, operations or marketing. It would be focused on finance only.

It depends on you whether you would want to gain corporate experience before doing an MBA or not. Most of the companies for placements, do not distinguish between freshers and experienced people (if from other fields other than finance) for jobs in the finance industry. Though if you want to make a strong hold in finance, I would even suggest you about considering NCFM modules to give weight to your resume. Also, the pay package you would get after BMS and after MBA would be different. Job roles would be different too.
